Mission TripsAfter the devastation that was left in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Saint Anne's began sending mission teams to New Orleans to help families of the Broadmoor area of the city to rebuild. Saint Anne's generally sends one mission team per year to New Orleans, although th ere have been some years when we have sent two teams in the same year. Each team member is responsible for paying their own way to New Orleans as well as room and board at the Annunciation Mission. A mission team is usually made up of parishioners of varying age and skill levels who are willing to help. Though most of our mission teams have been made up of Saint Anne's parishioners, there have been a few members that have come from other congregations and faiths. Upon arriving in New Orleans, our team is often broken up into groups and put onto job sites. The tasks that our mission teams are assigned to vary based on the skill levels of our mission team members. Some past work that has been done by Saint Anne's mission team members and have ranged from roofing and sheet rocking, to painting, cleaning and clerical work.
